The Olympia Fields Police Department will be offering the Self Defense Class for Women class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31st at the Village Hall.
The class will be taught by Corporal Don Dean, a trained self defense and self defense tactics instructor, and will be assisted by members of the Olympia Fields Police Department. The seminar will include topics such as warning and danger signs to be aware of while walking to and from your vehicle; strategic selection of parking areas for your vehicle; and increasing your situational awareness while entering or exiting your residence or business.
Participants in the seminar will be exposed to controlled demonstration and practical application of a wide variety of self defense tactics as well as the physical skills and mental mindset necessary to defeat an assailant. Practical application will include techniques to get out of choke holds or restraints and how to react if pushed to the ground and attacked.
The seminar will be divided into lecture, demonstration, application, and question and answer portions. No previous experience is necessary to participate in this seminar. Participants will be asked to sign a release of liability/waiver form prior to the start of the seminar.
