Village Services The Village of Olympia Fields is governed by a Village President and a board of six elected-at-large Trustees. The Village Administrator and staff handle the day-to-day management of Village operations and services. The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure within the village, which includes the water distribution system, wastewater and storm water collection system, streets, public facilities and village owned properties. Before proceeding with any work to construct, alter, repair or improve any part of a building or structure, a permit must be obtained through the building department. Permits are reviewed and issued by the Building Commissioner. Thanks to the efforts of the Olympia Fields Police Department, the community enjoys one of the lowest crime rates in the entire Chicago metropolitan area. Operations include an enhanced 911 telephone system working in conjunction with a shared Computer Aided Dispatch Center located in Matteson. Fire Department (Fire Services are provided for Village residents by the Village of Matteson Fire Department. They provide excellent services.
