The Freedom of Information Act is:

AN ACT in relation to access to public records and documents, enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly with Public Act 83-1013 Affective July1, 1984.

The Freedom of Information Act allows you access to certain public records.  It has been deemed that access is necessary to enable the people to fulfill their duties of discussing public issues fully and freely.  The act allows you, the public, to make informed political judgments, as well as  monitoring government to ensure that it is being conducted in the public interest.

bulletIf you would like to fill out a request to view or have copies made of certain public records click the "Download Form" link on the left top.
